Cardinals Return Home to Host NC A&T
December 02, 2023 | Women's Basketball
Four of the next five games for the Cards will be at home
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — After their last four games coming away from home, the No. 22/19 Louisville women's basketball team (7-1) is back in Louisville and set for an upcoming stretch that includes a number of games at home. The Cardinals are about to begin a stretch where four of their next five games will be at the KFC Yum! Center starting this Sunday against North Carolina A&T (3-3). The Cardinals and Aggies will square off at 12 p.m. ET and it will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
The Cardinals are riding a three-game win streak into Sunday's matchup and are coming off a 64-58 road win over No. 19/20 Ole Miss in the ACC/SEC Challenge. The Cardinals won the defensive battle over the Rebels and overcame a halftime deficit to claim the win. After trailing at the half, Louisville went on a 7-0 run in the third quarter and did not trail the rest of the game. It was the Cardinals 37-straight win when holding opponents to 59 points or less.
Nina Rickards has been a catalyst for the Cardinals this season, especially since she has been inserted into the starting lineup. She started her first game of the season against Liberty and the Cards are 3-0 since that point with the ACC/SEC Challenge win and also winning the Betty Chancellor Classic down in Texas.
Rickards has scored in double figures in all three games since she has started, including a season-high 16 points against Gonzaga. Rickards has scored six or more points in every game this season and has tallied two or more assists in each of the eight games this year. She leads the team in assists per game (3.1), second in rebounds (5.3) and fourth in points (9.9) per game.
Kiki Jefferson has stepped up her game in recent weeks for the Cards. She has scored in double figures in each of the last three games, including team-high 21 points against Gonzaga and 16 points against Ole Miss. Jefferson has been one of the best free throw shooters for the Cardinals this season, as she is 25-for-29 (86.2 percent) from the line. At the Betty Chancellor Classic, Jefferson was 15-for-15 from the line across the three games.

Series History - This will be the first meeting all-time between the two programs on Dec. 3. This is the second opponent the Cardinals have faced this season for the first time in program history. The Cardinals faced off with Bucknell for the first time on Nov. 19 and Louisville came away with a 77-44 win over the Bison.
