Last season, the Cardinals were a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament and hit the road for the first and second rounds for the first time since 2015. The Cardinals still advanced to their sixth-straight Sweet Sixteen and fifth-straight Elite Eight. They are the only program in the country to advance to each of the last five Elite Eights. The six-straight Sweet 16 appearances is the third-longest active streak in the country.
The 2023-24 Cardinals have already hit the court this season as they competed in the 2023 GLOBL JAM in Toronto this past July. Transfer Sydney Taylor hit the game-winning three with under one minute left to clinch the gold medal for the Cardinals over the hosts, Canada. Taylor was named the tournament MVP after leading the Cardinals in scoring over the four games.
Louisville averaged 8,779 fans per game with a 122,905 accumulative attendance in 2022-23, a number that ranked fifth in the country last season. The Cardinals average attendance last season ranked seventh in the ACC when combined with the men's basketball programs. The Cardinals welcomed in 12,015 fans against Notre Dame, which was the largest single-game home attendance by any ACC women's team last season.
