
14 Cards Earn All-ACC Academic Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Fourteen University of Louisville student-athletes have been honored on the 2022 All-ACC Academic Football Team, the conference announced on Tuesday.
The 14 representatives on the list were the most on the team since the Cards joined in the league in 2014.
Louisville players represented on the team are wide receiver Chris Bell, defensive tackle Yaya Diaby, quarterback Brock Domann, defensive tackle Ashton Gillotte, offensive linemen Michael Gonzaelz and Bryan Hudson, long snapper Shai Kochav, tight end Josh Lifson, defensive tackle Ramon Puryear, linebacker T.J. Quinn, defensive end Mason Reiger, defensive tackle Tawfiq Thomas, kickers Brock Travelstead and James Turner.
A sports administration major, Bell caught seven passes for 105 yards last season as a true freshman.
A starter in all 13 games, Diaby was the leader on the defensive line, recording 14.5 tackles for loss and 9.0 sacks.
Domann took over for the injured Malik Cunningham and passed for 958 yards and four touchdown passes, highlighted by leading the Cards to a 24-7 win the Wasabi Fenway Bowl.
A true sophomore, Gillotte was a disruptive force on the defensive line last year, registering 7.0 tackles for loss and 6.0 sacks, while Gonzalez and Hudson were key contributors on the offensive line.
Kochav took over as the team's long snapper and was flawless in all 13 games, while Lifson was a key reserve at tight end.
Puryear recorded 14 tackles last season and Quinn played in all 13 games as a reserve linebacker. Mason Reiger registered 7.0 tackles for loss last year.
Thomas, a true freshman, was credit with eight tackles in his first season.
Travelstead handled the kickoff duties last season and recorded 40 touchbacks. Turner was one of the top kickers in the nation, converting on 20-of-22 field goal attempts, which were tied for the second most in a season.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
