Louisville Men’s Soccer Names Three Captains
August 18, 2022 | Men's Soccer
Bryce LeBel, Sander Roed and Bradley Sample will captain the Cardinals during the 2022 season.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's soccer program has announced three captains for the upcoming 2022 season.
Senior Bradley Sample, junior Bryce LeBel and sophomore Sander Roed were selected as the captains this fall.
Sample served as a captain on the 2021 squad that finished 10-7-1 and captured the program's first ACC Atlantic Division title. A three-year starter in the midfield, he has played in 51 career matches with more than 4,300 minutes on the pitch. The Channahon, Ill., native has a pair of goals and four assists during his career.
LeBel has started all 32 matches during his two seasons with the Cards. The defender has led the Cardinals in minutes played each of the last two years, including more than 1,600 last season. Despite playing at center back, Lebel has a pair of career goals to go along with an assist.
Roed had an immediate impact on the program in his first season last fall. The Norwegian midfielder was Louisville's first freshman to earn All-Conference honors since 2014 after being named to the third team with three goals and five assists. Roed was also selected to the ACC All-Freshman Team.
The Cardinals close out the preseason with a Friday exhibition match against Indiana. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.
