Cards Welcome Georgia State Standout Daisy Hess
June 28, 2022 | Softball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville softball coach Holly Aprile has announced that Daisy Hess will join the Cardinals after three seasons at Georgia State.
Â
"Daisy has great energy and passion for the game," said Aprile. "She brings a go-getter mentality and some quality experience in the infield and on the base paths. We are very eager for her arrival to The Ville."
Hess built an impressive resume as a three-year starter shortstop at Georgia State, earning National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-South Region Third Team honors and establishing the program single-season record for stolen bases with 29 in 2022. As a sophomore, the shortstop led the team with 10 home runs, 41 RBIs and 32 runs while standing second with a .331 batting average, capping the 2021 campaign with NFCA All-South Region honors.
Â
Throughout her collegiate career – which includes the COVID-19 shortened 2020 season - Hess belted out 14 home runs and 27 doubles while scoring 60 runs and driving in 66. She finished her career at Georgia State ranked ninth on the school's list for career stolen bases with 39.
Â
Prior to her time at Georgia State, the Acworth, Ga., native also had an outstanding career at Allatoona High School where she was a three-time all-region selection (2015-2017). She won the All-Region Golden Glove Award and was a first team All-Cobb County shortstop in 2017 while helping her team to the region championship and a state runner-up showing. While playing for the Georgia Power she was named Defensive Player of the Year 2016-2017 and helped the team achieve a No. 19-ranking in the 18U NPS U.S. club softball rankings.
Daisy Hess on Louisville
"I chose Louisville for not just one reason. Everything fell in line, and it immediately felt like my new home. While talking to all the coaches on staff, I knew I was able to be me, and no one else. I could see myself thriving as a student athlete and as a person here."
