Cardinals Down Tennessee 3-1 in Spring Match

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville volleyball team downed Tennessee 3-1 in a spring match before a standing room-only crowd Saturday evening in L&N Arena. The Cardinals have a beach volleyball April 15 at Morehead State as its final competition of this spring.

UofL won the first set 25-21, the second set 25-16 before dropping set three 27-25. The two teams decided pre-match that it would be a four-set match and won the final set 25-21.

The Cardinals were led on offense by Anna DeBeer's 13 kills. Aiko Jones added 13 kills, hitting .550. Phekran Kong had seven kills, hitting .462 and adding four blocks.

Paige Morningstar and Elle Glock alternated at setter with Morningstar recording 21 assists and Glock picking up 16.

The Cardinal blocking was on point with 14 total, led by Kong's four and Cara Cresse's four.

Louisville played Xavier and won 2-0 and fell to Georgia Tech 2-0 on Saturday morning at KIVA as part of the Collegiate Showcase.
