Cardinals Close Out Action at Bobcat Invitational

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The University of Louisville track and field team closed out action at the Bobcat Invitational in San Marcos, Texas Friday.

Isaac Kiprop and Ben Ewert each finished within the top-four in the men's 5000-meter Thursday. Kiprop posted a personal-best and second-place time of 14:36.01, while Ewert crossed in 14:57.34 for fourth.

Aliyah Welter and Auriane Viola continued action Saturday as the two recorded top-five finishes for the second straight meet in the women's pole vault. Welter surpassed her previous outdoor personal-best with a mark of 4.20m (13-9.25), while Viola cleared 4.05m (13-3.5) to round out the top-five. The height of 4.20m achieved by Welter is tied for the second-best performer's mark in program outdoor history.

Je'Nyia Burton and Katie Martin each posted personal-best times in the women's 200-meter. Burton earned a second-place finish of 24.02, while Martin crossed in 24.63 for 13th.

Sean Roth wrapped up competition for the Cardinals with a height of 5.05m (16-6.75) in the men's pole vault.

Louisville will continue competition at the Raleigh Relays and Texas Relays Saturday.
