Cards Move to Sixth After Day 2 at NCAA Championships

Busy day of racing slated for Friday
ATLANTA -- The University of Louisville women moved to sixth after the first full day of racing at the 2022 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of Georgia Tech.

Virginia held its top spot with 210 points, followed by Texas (128), Stanford (123), Alabama (120), NC State (99), Louisville (95), California (7), Ohio Sttae (83), Michigan (66) and Florida round out the top ten.

The Cardinals had three events tonight in the 200 IM, the 50 free and the 200 free relay.

Abby Hay turned in a 1:54.93 to finish seventh and earn All-American status in the 200 IM. The event was won by Alex Walsh's 1:50.08. Virginia's Alex Walsh stopped the clock at 1:50.08, setting an American, U.S. Open, NCAA and meet record.

Gabi Albiero won the B-final of the 50 freestyle with a time of 21.68, dropping .12 from her morning swim to earn Honorable Mention All-American Honors. UVA's Kate Douglas took home the crown, setting an NCAA, meet, American, and U.S. Open record with the winning time 20.84.

The All-American 200 free relay team of Gabi Albiero (21.74), Christiana Regenauer (21.48), Tristen Ulett (21.71) and Arina Openysheva (21.90) touched fifth with a time of 1:26.83, dropping .25 of a second from their entry time. The event was won by Virginia's 1:24.96.

The Cardinals are back in the water on Friday morning at 10 a.m. for prelims in the 400 IM, the 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back and the 400 medley relay.
