Day 4 Prelims Live Recaps From ACC Swim + Dive Championships

Atlanta -- Day 4 of the 2022 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships are underway and will feature the 200 butterfly, 100 backstroke and 100 breaststroke as well as platform diving for the men.Â

Women's 200 Butterfly
Louisville put two Cardinals in the A-final of the 200 butterfly for tonight as Abby Hay put up a 1:54.43 to secure the top seed.  Tristen Ulett posted a time of 1:55.32 and is seeded fourth in the A as well. Alena Kraus made the B-Final when she went 1:57.16.

Men's 200 Butterfly
Nicolas Albiero earned the top seed in the 200 fly when he threw down the nation's fastest time in the 200 fly to date with a 1:39.53. Albiero is a four-time ACC Champion in this event. Gustavo Saldo will swim in the B-Final tonight after boarding a 1:44.75 and Denis Loktev made the C-Final with a 1:45.51 in a tightly bunched event.

Women's 100 Backstroke
In the women's 100 backstroke, Paige Hetrick earned a second swim, making the B-Final with a time of 52.76. Joining her in the same final will be freshman Rye Ulett, who went 52.95.

Men's 100 Backstroke
Mitchell Whyte earned the top seed for tonight's A-Final with a 45.41 in the 100 backstroke. Joining him in the A-Final will be Nikos Sofianidis, who boarded a 46.05. Dalton Lowe made the B-Final after putting up a time of 46.83. Jack Wever will swim in the C-Final with a qualifying time of 47.08.

Women's 100 Breaststroke
There will be four Cardinals in the 100 Breaststroke finals tonight as Mariia Astashkina (59.77) and Adeline Farrington (1:00.02) made the A-Final. Teammates Morgan Friesen (1:00.22) and Kaylee Wheeler (1:00. 85) will swim the B-Final tonight.

Men's 100 Breaststroke
In the men's 100 breaststroke, Evgenii Somov locked down a spot in tonight's A-final as he shoots for a 5th title in this event. The super senior from St. Petersburg, Russia put up a 51.39 and is the current ACC record holder in the event. Freshman Denis Petrasov also made the A-final, qualifying with a 52.30.
