February 17, 2022 | Women's Tennis
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team will host its second doubleheader of the season as the Cardinals welcome Austin Peay and Bellarmine to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Saturday.
Louisville will play Austin Peay at noon and will face off against Bellarmine at 5 p.m. Admission is free for both matches.
The Cardinals (5-1) are coming off two impressive 4-3 victories at home over Ball State and Saint Louis last weekend. Andrea Di Palma and Tatiana Simova led the Cardinals in singles wins and the pair went 2-0 in doubles play over the weekend. Freshman Tyra Richardson helped clinch the win over Saint Louis, winning 6-1 in the third set.
Austin Peay (0-3) is coming off a 4-3 loss to Middle Tennessee on Jan. 30 and have not played a match since, due to match cancellations and postponements. The Governors return five members from last year's team including Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Co-Freshman of the Year and First Team All-OVC selection, Jana Leder. The match will be the eight meeting between Austin Peay and Louisville.
Bellarmine (0-7) is looking to rebound from a 4-0 loss to Saint Louis on Feb. 13. The Knights and Cardinals are meeting for just the third time in program history. Bellarmine returns three players from last season and welcomes five newcomers. Head coach Brian Slack is in his first year leading Bellarmine.
