February 12, 2022 | Men's Tennis
East Lansing, Mich. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team ended its six-match road trip on a high note as the Cardinals rolled past Michigan State 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at the MSU Indoor Tennis Facility.
After losing the doubles match on court one, Alex Wesbrooks and Etienne Donnet defeated Reed Crocker and Graydon Lair 6-4 to keep the Cardinals alive in doubles. Tin Chen and Sergio Hernandez earned the doubles point for Louisville, outlasting Carson Gates and Max Sheldon 6-4.
In singles, Hernandez defeated Lair 6-3, 6-4 to put Louisville ahead 2-0. Michigan State pulled back within one point with a win on court six, but the Cardinals took the remaining matches in singles to secure the 6-1 win.
"It was a tough environment to play with a lot of fans but we were able to work through it and close the matches out," head coach Rodrigo da Silva said. "I couldn't be more proud of the guys. We'll get back to work on Monday to get ready for our first home match in a while."
The Cardinals improve to 4-4 with the win and Michigan State falls to 6-2.
Louisville returns home to start its five-match home stand against Purdue on Feb. 20 at noon.
