Roed, Camara Earn All-ACC Honors
November 09, 2022 | Men's Soccer
The Louisville duo leads the Cards in assists and goals, respectively.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville men's soccer student-athletes Sander Roed and Aboubacar Camara were each named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference men's soccer teams announced by the league on Wednesday morning.
Roed was a first team selection, while Camara was named to the second team. The Cardinals have had multiple All-Conference selections in eight of the nine years since joining the league.
Louisville's leader in assists, Roed earned All-Conference recognition for the second straight season. A third team selection as a freshman, Roed has elevated his game in his sophomore campaign. The Norwegian midfielder has started all but one match this season for the Cards, leading the team with eight assists and ranking third in points. His eight assists are the second-most in the ACC and rank 20th nationally.
Camara has garnered All-ACC laurels in each of his three seasons at Louisville. The forward was an All-Freshman selection in 2020 and earned first team All-Conference honors one year ago. Camara is Louisville's leading scorer this season with five goals, moving him into eighth all-time at UofL with 24 goals for his career. Three of Camara's five tallies on the season have been of the game-winning variety, recording second-half winners against Saint Louis, Florida Gulf Coast and Evansville.
Louisville sits at 9-5-3 overall on the season and currently awaits its postseason fate. The NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Selection Show is scheduled for Monday at 1 p.m. ET.
