Cardinals Return Home to Host Longwood

Louisville has their first home game in over two weeks against the Lancers
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville women's basketball team is back on campus and set for their first home game in over two weeks. The Cardinals welcome Longwood to the KFC Yum! Center for the first meeting between the two teams in program history. Friday's matchup is set for a 12 p.m. ET tip and it will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra and available on the radio at 93.9-FM The Ville in Louisville.
The Cardinals are hosting just their third home game of the season and continue to ride the program's longest home winning streak. Dating back to the 2020-21 season, Louisville has won their last 20 home games in a row heading into Friday's matchup with Longwood. The Cardinals have had even more success at home during non-conference play as they have won 39-straight non-conference home games dating back to the 2016-17 season.
Junior guard Hailey Van Lith has been the spark plug for the Cardinals this season and is one of the best scorers in the country. She has tallied 127 points this season, a mark that ranks second in the ACC and fourth nationally. She also ranks second in the ACC in points per game with 21.2 and has scored 20 or more points in three of her six games this season.
Defensively, graduate student guard Mykasa Robinson is making an impact in her final season with the Cardinals. She lives in the passing lanes and has tallied 18 steals over the first three games. The 18 steals rank second in the ACC and 18th nationally and her 3.0 steals per game is fourth in the league. She has tallied three or more steals four times this season and has tied her career high with five steals twice so far this year.

Longwood is the fifth different NCAA Tournament team from last season the Cardinals will face during their non-conference portion of their schedule. Longwood won the Big South Tournament Championship after knocking off the top-seed Campbell in the championship game. In the NCAA Tournament, Longwood defeated Mount St. Mary's in the First Four before falling to NC State in the first round. The Lancers went 22-12 last season and so far this year they are 1-3. Senior guard Anne-Hamilton LeRoy leads the team with 14.3 points per game and she is one of three players that is averaging double-digit points.
Series History - This is the first meeting between the two teams. Louisville has only played three opponents from the Big South in program history and are 3-0 in those games. The last time Louisville played an opponent from the current Big South Conference was 2011 when they defeated Gardner-Webb 92-27.
