Two doubles pairs and Gorchanyuk win at Invitational

STARKVILLE, Miss. – The University of Louisville women's tennis team had two wins in doubles against Louisiana Tech and one in singles against Memphis on the second day of the John Cade Invitational hosted by Mississippi State in Starkville, Miss.

The Cards opened Saturday morning play with a 2-1 win in doubles against Louisiana Tech. Jamilah Snells and Cici Xin beat Olga Bienzobas and Ana Rodrigues 8-2. Arielle Nealy and Rhea Verma beat Leonie Schuknecht and Iliana Tetruashvili 8-6. Sasha Gorchanyuk and Tyra Richardson fell to Alexia Romero and Valentina Vasquez 8-5.

UofL lost the singles match against Memphis 5-1. Gorchanyuk won the lone match against Madelyn Bernisderfer 1-6, 6-4, 6-4. Verma fell to Emmanouela Antonaki 6-3, 6-4. Snells fell to Gia Cohen 6-3, 6-0. Xin fell to Alexandra Mikhailuk 1-6, 6-4, 6-0. Richardson fell to Dharani Niroshan 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 7-6 (7-3). Joy Callwood fell to Emily Surcey 6-2, 6-1.

Doubles - Matches will be one pro set (tiebreak at 7-7), no-ad scoring
Singles - Matches will be best of three regular tiebreak sets, no-ad scoring
