Four Men's Golfers Named to ACC All-ACC Academic Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Four University of Louisville men's golfers were named to the All-ACC Men's Golf Academic Team, the league announced on Thursday.
Seniors Trevor Johnson, John Murphy, Matthias Schmid, and junior Jiri Zuska all earned accolades for their work in the classroom.
The four student-athletes are tied for the most that Louisville has ever placed on the All-ACC Academic Team – tying the mark of four in 2019.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade-point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
Johnson is studying sports administration and finished with a 3.87 grade point average this spring and has a 3.83 cumulative GPA.
The native of Brentwood, Tenn., saw action in nine of the team's 10 events, posting a stroke average of 73.53. The fifth-year player posted a pair of top-20 finishes in 2021, placing in a season-best 16th at the Noblesville Regional after shooting a 3-under-par to help the Cardinals advance to their fifth NCAA Championship.
Murphy had a 3.93 GPA this semester and owns a 3.63 GPA for his career while earning a marketing degree.
The native of Kinsale, Ireland has started all 10 tournaments, recording a 73.03 stroke average, with one top-five finish and two in the top 10. He shot a 9-under-par to finish second at the General Hackler Invitational and tied for seventh by shooting 6-under-par at the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate.
Schmid is named to the All-ACC Academic Team for the third time after recording a 3.83 grade point average in finance.
One of the most decorated players in school history, Schmid finished with the team's top stroke average at 72.03, with two finishes in the top five. He tied for third at both the Southwestern Invitational and the Mobile Bay Intercollegiate, while posting a personal best 15th at the ACC Championship.
Zuska, the lone returner, [posted a team best 3.94 grade point average in sports administration. He earned all-ACC Academic honors for the first time in his career.
The Czech Republic native, finished with the second-best stroke average on the team at 72.74. He guided the Cards to the NCAA Championship by posting a tenth-place finish ay the regional, and was tied for eighth at the General Hackler and 11th at the Trinity Forest Invitational.
