CARDINAL NOTES
• Louisville (19-25-1, 13-19-1 ACC) is seventh in the current ACC standings while North Carolina (12-23, 8-17) is 11th.
• UofL is coming off of a series split at Boston College. The Eagles took the first two games by scores of 3-1 and 5-4 in eight innings, but Louisville bounced back to take game three 10-1 and closed the weekend with a 4-1 win on Sunday.
• Prior to their series at Boston College, the Cardinals played a stretch of nine straight games played against top-25 opponents after a four-game series against then-No. 21 Duke, a midweek game at No. 14 Kentucky, followed by last weekend's four-game set against No. 7 Florida State. In that stretch, the Cardinals went 2-6-1 with three games going into extra innings and three games decided by one run. And an 11-inning 0-0 tie against the Seminoles.
• Carmyn Greenwood carries team-high .441 batting average, standing second in the ACC. Her ninedoubles, 26 runs and 21 multi-hit games also lead the team.
• Carmyn Greenwood leads the team and the ACC and stands fifth in the nation with 67 hits.
• Taylor Roby has a team-high 13 home runs and 40 RBI standing tied for second in the ACC in home runs and RBI. She has also produced a team-best 12 multi-RBI games.
• With 13 home runs on the season, Taylor Roby is now tied for fourth on Louisville's list for single season home runs. She needs three more to move into a tie for second.
• Roby (12-11) leads the team with a 2.53 ERA in 34 appearances and 144.0 innings of work
• Jennifer Leonhardt, a graduate transfer from the University of Southern Indiana ranks second in the Cardinals' pitching rotation with 72Ks.
• Leonhardt second in the ACC second and seventh in the nation with four saves.
• Celene Funke has four triples on the season, standing third in the ACC and 22nd in the nation in that catetory. She currently ranks second on Louisville's all-time list for triples with 22 and needs four more to tie for the lead.
• In the first game of Saturday's doubleheader at BC, Funke matched her career high with three stolen bases and now leads the team with 11 on the season.
• Funke, who currently stands second on Louisville's all-time stolen base list, extends her career total to 72 and needs 10 more to move into a tie for first.
• Makayla Hurst is on a six-game hitting streak.
• Louisville was picked to finish seventh in the preseason ACC Coaches poll.

THE APRILE ERA
• Holly Aprile is in her third season as UofL's head coach. With the 2020 campaign suspended prior to its midway point due to the outbreak of COVID-19, Aprile has compiled a 63-55-1 record and guided the Cardinals to an NCAA regional final appearance in 2019.
• Prior to her arrival at Louisville, Aprile, 2018 ACC Coach of the Year spent 10 seasons (2009-18) as Pittsburgh's head coach and five years (2004-08) as an assistant. In 2018, she earned ACC Coach of the Year honors after leading the Panthers to the 2018 ACC Coastal Division title and a runner-up finish in the ACC tournament.

CARDS AGAINST NORTH CAROLINA
Series Record: North Carolina leads 9-7
Last Meeting: May 9, 2019 - UNC won 9-3
• The Cardinals built a 3-0 lead, but North Carolina plated nine unanswered runs to beat the Cardinals 9-3 in the ACC Championship quarterfinals Thursday at Florida State's JoAnne Graf Stadium.
• The teams met in the regular season April 26-28 at Ulmer Stadium. UNC won the first two games 6-0 and 10-7, and the Cards took the series finale 6-1.
Scouting the Tar Heels: North Carolina enters the weekend with a 12-23 overall record and an 8-17 mark in ACC play while standing in 11th place. The Tar Heels have been idle since April 25 when they fell 4-3 at Duke, capping the Blue Devils' four-game series sweep.
• Kristina Burkhardt leads the team with a .352 batting average, 23 runs and 12 stolen bases. Brittany Pickett has belted out a team-high six home runs.
• Pickett also paces the Tar Heels' pitching staff with an 8-7 record and a 2.29 ERA with 116 strikeouts in 102.0 innings.

UP NEXT
The Cardinals will return to Ulmer Stadium where they will host the ACC Softball Championship May 12-15. The top 10 conference teams will be eligible to participate this year.

TOUGH SLATE
Louisville's 2021 slate is highlighted by seven teams in the USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and the ESPN.com/USA Softball coaches' Top 25 polls including: No. 3/3 Alabama, No. 4/4 Florida, No. 6/9 Florida State, No. 13/11 Clemson, No. 18/17 Kentucky, No. 20/20 Virginia Tech, and No. 21/21 Duke.
• Four of Louisville's losses have come against teams ranked in the top 10 (Alabama and Florida) and 17 have come against teams in the top 25. Louisville also has three wins and one tie against top-25 teams. Â
• In response to the ongoing pandemic, the annual ACC/Big Ten challenge was cancelled and the ACC implemented four-game series to limit travel between conference opponents.
 • Ulmer Stadium hosted 20 games throughout the season, including two tournaments in March: the Cardinal Classic and the Red & Black Challenge.

LEADING OFF
Carmyn Greenwood has played in 40 games as Louisville's leadoff hitter and has been effective in that role, batting .474 (65-for-137) with eight doubles, one triple and two home runs to go along with 10 stolen bases and 24 runs.

DOUBLE DUTY
All three of Louisville's starting pitchers can also help their cause at the plate.
Taylor Roby leads the team with a career-high 13 home runs and 40 RBI.
•The redshirt junior has also logged a team-high 144.0 innings and 75 strikeouts.
Gabby Holloway (3-6) has turned in 79.0 innings, standing second behind Roby in innings pitched. The freshman has issued 31 strikeouts on the season and has driven in four runs, recently belting out her first career home run.
• Jennifer Leonhardt has issued 72 strikeouts and is second in the ACC with four saves. The graduate transfer from the University of Southern Indiana is batting .259 on the season and recently connected on her first home run as a Cardinal. She finished her undergrad career with a .327 batting average.

TRIPLE THREAT
Celene Funke connected her fourth triple of the season in the 2-0 win over No. 21/21 Duke on April 16. She currently stands second on Louisville's all-time list with 22 and needs four more more to tie Audrey Rendon (2004-07) for first.
• Funke led the nation in triples with 13 in 2019, setting the school single season record along the way.Â

"FOUR" THE RECORD
• After going 4-for-5 in game two of the Boston College series on May 1, Carmyn Greenwood matched her career high and a school record for the fourth time this season. She becomes the first player in program history to have matched the record four times in the same season.

ROBY RISING IN THE RECORD BOOKS
With her home run in the May 1 game at Bsoton College, Roby now has 13 on the season and moves into a five-way tie for fourth on Louisville's single-season list for home runs. Three more will move her into a tie for second with Melissa Roth (2009 and 2010).
• Courtney Moore owns the record with 17 in the 2005 season.

CHUNG COMING IN CLUTCH
Rebecca Chung's RBI single in the top of the seventh put the Cardinals ahead 5-4 against Kentucky. The Wildcats would go on to win 6-5 in nine innings, but it wasn't the first time Chung came through with big hit in late innings, the junior catcher/DP also mashed a two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh to temporarily tie the game in the 5-4, eight-inning loss to Duke (4/18).
• In her freshman season (2019), Chung's two-out, three-run double lifted Louisville to a 10-9 win against No. 3 Florida State as the Cards overcame a 9-7 deficit in the bottom of the seventh to clinch the series

FUNKE FAST (STOLEN BASE EDITION)
In the first game of Saturday's twin bill against Boston College on May 1, Celene Funke matched her career high with three stolen bases. She current has 73 career stolen bases, and stands second on Louisville's all-time list and needs nine more to move into a tie for first with Audrey Rendon's mark of 82 (2004-07).
