LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's tennis team concludes its longest road stretch of the season with a visit to a pair of conference opponents this weekend. The Cardinals travel to Blacksburg, Va. to face Virginia Tech at 12 p.m. on Friday before heading to Charlottesville, Va. where No.15 Virginia awaits for a 12 p.m. first serve on Saturday.
Â
After a strong start to the season, Louisville will look to get back in the win column following last weekend's matches against No.1 North Carolina and No.11 Duke. Cardinals' Raven Neely and Tatiana Simova are now 8-1 in doubles competition after splitting their latest matchups in North Carolina. In singles, four Cardinals have each achieved the five-win mark. Andrea Di Palma leads the team with a 7-2 record, while Neely's 5-3 mark comes from splitting time at the top three slots.
Â
Virginia Tech enters Friday's contest following losses to Syracuse and Boston College. The Hokies are 2-6 overall, with their lone wins dating back to non-conference play in the opening weeks of the spring campaign. Senior Nina Sorkin has a team-high five singles wins, while freshman Katie Andreini has made an immediate impact since stepping on campus, posting a 3-1 record at No.5 and No.6.
Â
No.15 Virginia improved their record to 6-2 last weekend with road victories at Boston College and Syracuse. Five Cavaliers are ranked in the latest ITA singles polls, led by sophomore Natasha Subhash who comes in at No. 11. Virginia's lineup includes Emma Navarro and Hibah Shaikh, two newcomers who have earned multiple ACC Freshman of the Week honors. Navarro, who is 7-0 at No.1, is the only Cavalier that boasts an unblemished record.
Â
At the conclusion of Saturday's match, the Cardinals will return home to host North Carolina State and Wake Forest on Mar. 12 and Mar. 14, respectively.Â
