Kirian Named ACC Pitcher of the Week

The left-hander took a no-hitter into the eighth inning at NC State on Friday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Following a career night on the mound Friday, University of Louisville left-handed pitcher Michael Kirian was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
Kirian took a no-hitter into the eighth inning Friday night at NC State, finishing the evening with one run allowed on two hits with a career-best 13 strikeouts on his way to improving to 4-0 on the season.
The southpaw retired the first 11 hitters he faced before a two-out walk in the fourth inning. Kirian followed the free pass by retiring the next 10 NC State hitters.
Now the Friday night starter for the Cardinals, Kirian is 4-0 on the year with a 0.77 ERA. He has allowed just two earned runs in 23.1 innings with 27 strikeouts. The four wins are tied for the most in the ACC, while his ERA is the lowest among all ACC starters.
Louisville is back at home on Tuesday to take on Western Kentucky. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET at Jim Patterson Stadium.
