Walz Named Werner Ladder Naismith Coach of the Year Semifinalist

University of Louisville women’s basketball head coach Jeff Walz is one of 10 coaches named a semifinalist.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's basketball head coach Jeff Walz has been named a Werner Ladder Naismith Women's Basketball Coach of the Year semifinalist.
Walz is one of 10 coaches named a semifinalist and one of two from the Atlantic Coast Conference – joined by NC State's Wes Moore.
Despite losing five seniors from last year's team and placing just one player on this year's All-ACC first or second team, Walz has led the Cardinals to a 21-2 overall record and 14-2 in ACC play. On Sunday, Louisville won 78-61 at Notre Dame to clinch its fourth straight ACC regular season title.
The Cardinals won their first 16 games and reached No. 1 in the Associated Press and USA Today polls for the first time in program history.
Louisville will be the 1-seed in the 2021 ACC Tournament in Greensboro, NC. The Cardinals open play on Friday at 12 p.m. against either 8-seed North Carolina or 9-seed Wake Forest.
