Cardinals Place Five on the ACC All-Academic Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky – The University of Louisville has five student-athletes recognized on the All-ACC Academic Football Team, which was released Monday.
Linebacker C.J. Avery, offensive lineman Robbie Bell, defensive tackle Jared Goldwire, and safeties Russ Yeast and Isaiah Hayes were named to the conference's all-academic team that requires at least a 3.00 grade-point average for the fall semester and a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00. Athletic achievements are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
Avery, who earns his third appearance on the team, graduated with a degree in sports administration. The Grenada, Miss., native led the team in tackles for the second-straight season after finishing with 78 stops and five tackles for loss in 11 games. He finished 11th in the conference in tackles per game and added an interception – the third of his career.
Another third-time honoree, Bell earned his degree in criminal justice. The fifth-year senior started five games at guard for an offense that averaged 444.0 yards per game and 29.5 points per game.
Goldwire completed a master's degree in business administration after finishing with his best season at UofL. A starter in nine games at defensive tackle, Goldwire concluded his career with a personal best 35 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks.
Yeast, who transferred to Kansas State after the season, graduated with a degree in sports administration. The Greenwood, Ind., product produced 45 tackles and three pass-break-ups in 11 starts at safety.
Another safety, Hayes also earned a degree in sports administration after playing two seasons with the Cardinals. The native of Los Angeles, Calif., registered a career best 37 tackles and four pass-break-ups in 11 games.
Since joining the ACC in 2014,Louisville has had 16 different student-athletes earn 26 recognitions on the All-ACC Academic Team.
