Cardinals Travel to In-State Rival Kentucky Monday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's soccer team travels down the road to take on in-state rival Kentucky on Monday night at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN3.

LAST TIME OUT
The Cardinals were defeated 3-1 by No. 1 Wake Forest in the season opener on Friday at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium. The Demon Deacons held a 2-0 lead at half, but a perfect free kick from Haji Abdikadir was headed home by Pedro Fonseca early in the second half to get the Cards back within one. However, Wake answered back minutes later to create the final margin.
SERIES HISTORY
The series between Louisville and Kentucky dates all the way back to 1979 prior to the Wildcats fielding a varsity squad. Since UK's first varsity season in 1991, Kentucky leads the series 12-8-5. The two teams have met in each of the last seven years and 26 of the last 30.
LAST MEETING
Last year, Emil Elveroth netted his first goal in a Louisville uniform just 109 seconds into the match as the Cardinals rolled to a 3-0 victory over Kentucky. Luka Masset and Cherif Dieye also tallied goals, while Jake Gelnovatch played 90 spotless minutes in goal.
