Dawkins Looking for His Next Opportunity

Seth Dawkins caught 94 passes in his career with the Cardinals.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - March 26 was going to be a big day for a number of University of Louisville football seniors – the annual Pro Day. It was scheduled to be one last opportunity for the out-going seniors to showcase their abilities in front of numerous National Football League personnel.
However, COVID-19, not only put an end to that, but everything else around the world for that matter, which was a blow to many of the seniors looking for a chance to show their talents.
However, it didn't stop wide receiver Seth Dawkins, who put his fate in his own hands. With the help of his agent, Dawkins orchestrated his own Pro Day, putting it on video, and distributing it to many interested scouts.
The native of Columbus, Ohio, went through a mock Pro Day, running the 40-yard dash, bench pressing, and doing other cone drills with a video person and his agent.
The 6-foot-3, 224-pound wide out put up good numbers, running a 4.50 40-yard dash and posting a 38-inch vertical leap.
"I was pleased with my results despite the circumstances," Dawkins said. "I had to do something to be seen because our Pro Day had to be canceled because of what was going on throughout the world. I just wanted the opportunity to get noticed. I would have been at the top of nearly every combine drill and have been receiving good feedback from the teams."
Through four seasons at Louisville, Dawkins used his play on the field to get noticed, finishing his career with 94 catches for 1,510 yards and nine touchdowns. He put all his talents on display in a 41-39 win over Boston College last season, snapping the Cardinals' nine-game conference losing streak. In the big win, Dawkins caught six passes for a career-high 170 yards and a touchdown, recording a 59-yard touchdown reception and a career long 77-yard reception.
Since leaving campus in December, Dawkins has pursued his career at the next level under adverse circumstances.
"I'm doing whatever I can around the house with weights & doing "jail workouts" such as push-ups and sit-ups," Dawkins said. "I also get on the field and run routes about four days a week."
With his size and speed, Dawkins can be attractive to teams who are looking for a big, physical receiver. His enormous hands give him the opportunity to go up and get the football, which he did on a number of occasions during his stellar tenure with the Cardinals, especially looking back at his 2017 season when he caught 42 passes for 642 yards and four scores.
"I've heard that I'm getting a lot of late-round interest," Dawkins said. "The teams are asking questions just regarding what I bring to the table and my best qualities. The teams have been using this time just getting to know me as a person."
After the 2018 season, Dawkins was looking forward to his final go-around with a new staff and a re-energized locker room – and it didn't disappoint. The Franklin Heights High product caught 16 passes for 348 yards and three touchdowns, but it wasn't just about the statistics – he was having fun again.
"The 2019 season was one of the most fun seasons I've had since I was a little kid," Dawkins said. "I had a lot of fun with my teammates again, and we got back to winning, which certainly made it a lot better for me as I was leaving Louisville."
