Cardinals Set to Host Wichita State and Notre Dame

Louisville, Ky - The University of Louisville women's tennis team will be back in action this weekend at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cardinals will face Wichita State on Saturday at 11 a.m. and No. 24-ranked Notre Dame on Sunday at 12 p.m.

About the Cardinals:

The Cardinals are off to a 8-4 start to the 2020 season. They are currently in the midst of ACC play and are looking to bounce back this weekend. The Cardinals have won the doubles point in 4 of the last 5 matches. The duo of freshmen Andrea Di Palma and redshirt-sophomore Rhea Verma are 7-2 in doubles this season. On the singles side, senior Diana Wong is tied for the team lead in wins with a 8-5 record. Fellow senior Raven Neely currently has a 7-4 record when playing from the No.1 position.

About the Opponent:

Prior to their matches this week against Xavier and Cincinnati, Wichita State is off to a 4-10 start to its 2020 season. The Shockers are led by the doubles team of seniors Marta Bellucco and Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva who are currently ranked at No. 57. Wichita State is coached by Colin Foster, who is in his 11th season at the helm. He is the all-time win leader in program history and finished the 2019 season ranked as high as No. 36.

Prior to their match against Indiana, Notre Dame is off to a 9-5 start to their 2020 season and is currently sitting at No. 24 in the nation. Junior Cameron Corse was an all-ACC third team member in 2019 and is currently ranked No. 96 in the nation in singles. Corse and freshman Page Freeman are also ranked No. 33 in the nation in doubles. Senior Zoe Spence was also selected to the third team all-ACC in 2019. The Irish are coached by Alison Silverio who is in her second season at the helm, after previously coaching at Oregon.
