
Ahlana Smith Named NJCAA All-American

Smith played in 26 games with 25 starts for Gulf Coast State College, while averaging 20.3 points per game, which ranked second in the NJCAA.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville signee Ahlana Smith has been named a National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) First Team All-American by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).

Smith helped lead Gulf Coast State College to a 23-5 record and a trip to the NJCAA South Atlantic District Championship game.

She played in 26 games with 25 starts, while averaging 20.3 points per game, which ranked second in the NJCAA. She shot 43.9 percent from the floor and 45-148 (30.4%) from 3 point range, while pulling down 4.8 rebounds and dishing 2.0 assists per game.

The Charlotte, N.C., native scored in double figures in 25 of 26 games with 11 20-plus point games and three 30-plus point games. In November, she scored a season-high 39 points in a 97-89 win over Florida Southwestern and then followed that by scoring 36 points in a 90-67 win over Vincennes. In the win over Vincennes, she shot an impressive 15-18 from the floor and 4-4 from 3-point range.

Smith spent the 2018-19 season at UCLA, where she played in 32 games, the most of among freshmen on the team. She averaged 12.6 minutes, 3.0 points and 1.9 rebounds on the year.

Coming out of high school (Mallard Creek, Charlotte, N.C.), she was ranked No. 30 in espnW's HoopGurlz rankings and No. 34 by Prospects Nation.
