UofL drops close one to the Orange
The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 4-3 to No. 44-ranked Syracuse in an ACC matchup Sunday afternoon.

The Cardinals dropped the doubles point when Rhea Verma and Andrea DiPalma fell 6-3 to Zeynep Erman and Guzal Yusupova. Raven Neely and Maia Haumuller fell 6-4 at No. 2 to give the Orange the point.

SU scored the first singles point when Kim Hansen downed Dina Chaika 6-1, 6-1 just before Sofya Treshcheva downed Rhea Verma 6-1, 6-3 to go up 3-0. Miranda Ramirez beat Andrea DiPalma 7-5, 6-1 to clinch the match. The Cardinals scored at No. 6 with Diana Wong winning a point after Polina Kozyreva retired. Nikolina Jovic outlasted Zeynep Erman at No. 5 with a score of 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-2) and Raven Neely bounced back from a first set loss to beat Guzal Yusupova 0-6, 6-4, 6-4.

The Cardinals are back in action next weekend when they host Wichita State on Saturday at 11 a.m. and Notre Dame on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Bass Rudd Tennis Center.
