Cardinals Top Boston College 6-1

Louisville, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's tennis team defeated conference foe Boston College 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
"We played a tough Boston College team that just would not go away," said head coach Rodrigo da Silva. "We started well and won doubles. We were in control, but Boston College fought through every single match and we had to stay tough and close it out. The guys kept competing and I'm proud of the energy they brought today."
The Cardinals (6-3, 2-0 ACC) started the match by taking the doubles point with wins at the Nos. 1 and 3. Sophomores Fabien Salle and Alex Westbrooks gave the Cards the early lead with their 6-1 win against Sean Mullins and Mason Fung at No. 3. The Eagles answered with a win on court two where Max Motlagh and Chris Grasel topped the duo of Daniel Fainblum and Matthew Fung 6-4. At the No. 1 spot, Sergio Hernandez and Tin Chen took down Derek Austin and Javi Amantegui 6-3 to clinch the first point of the match.
In singles, Salle extended the Cardinals lead to 2-0 with a win at No. 3, defeating Javi Amantegui with a 6-4, 7-5 decision.
The remaining matches went to third sets with Daniel Fainblum taking down Max Mendelsohn 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 on court five and No. 66 ranked Chen defeating Derek Austin 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 to clinch the match for the Cards at the No. 1 spot.
Hernandez added to the lead with a 4-6, 6-1, 7-5 win over Chris Grasel at No. 2. Â Â On court four, sophomore David Mizrahi took down Max Motlagh 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.Â
Boston College would earn its lone point in the match when Sean Mullins defeated Fung 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 on court 6.
Up next for the Cards, they will host Cleveland State in the second half of Sunday's doubleheader at 4:30 p.m.
