Cards Set for Three Weekend Matches

Louisville takes on Oregon Friday at 4 p.m., Boston College and Cleveland State Sunday
Louisville, Ky. – After a tough 4-1 loss to Northwestern, the University of Louisville men's tennis team (5-2, 1-0 ACC) will look to bounce back as they play three matches this weekend at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. On Friday, the Cardinals will welcome the Oregon Ducks at 4 p.m. Sunday's action will begin 12 p.m. when the Cardinals face ACC foe Boston College, followed by Cleveland State at 4:30 p.m.
About Louisville Men's Tennis
• The Cardinals enter the weekend with a 5-2 overall record and a 1-0 mark in ACC play.

• Louisville is led in singles by junior Tin Chen, who carries a 19-3 overall record and is 4-0 at No. 1 in dual matches. Sophomore Sergio Hernandez follows with a 13-5 record and is 4-2 at the No. 2 spot.
Hernandez and fellow sophomore Fabien Salle leads the Cardinals in doubles with an overall record of 13-4.

• Chen was named ACC Men's Tennis Co-Player of the Week on January 21 after leading Louisville to a 4-3 upset of No. 10 Virginia. The junior clinched the match with a 7-6, 3-6, 6-4 win against No. 68 Gianni Ross at No. 1.

• Chen stands at No. 66 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles rankings. In the fall, he became the first player in program history to capture the ITA/Ohio Valley Regional singles title.

• Head coach Rodrigo da Silva is in his first season at the helm at Louisville. He took over the program in September 2019 after spending four seasons as the head men's tennis coach at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He makes his return to UofL where he spent six years (2009-14) as an assistant coach, helping guide the Cardinals to three BIG EAST Conference tournament titles and five NCAA Tournament appearances.

The Eagles are led by head coach Scott Wilkins, who is in his 15th year.

Scouting the Vikings: Cleveland State holds a 3-2 record prior to their match at Xavier on Saturday. The Vikings are led by Nico Mostardi, who finished 2019's fall campaign ranked No. 65 nationally.
