LOUISVILLE, Ky -- The University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 6-1 to Furman on Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

Louisville suffered its first doubles defeat of the season with No.2 Raven Neely and Maia Haumuller defeating Danni Vines and Madison Dillon 6-2 to secure the only doubles win of the day. The Cards were shorthanded as the No. 1 pair of Andrea Di Palma and Rhea Verma had to retire due to injury after just one game. Jelena Vujanic and Dina Chaika made a valiant effort but fell 7-5 at No. 3.Â

Cardinal Rhea Verma was the first to fall in singles, bowing out to Julia Adams 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 just before her teammate Raven Neely fell 6-1, 6-4 to No. 13-ranked Katrina Kozarov at No. 1. Furman's Maggie Pate blew by Maia Haumuller 6-3, 6-1 to clinch match point. No. 3 Jelena Vujanic secured the Cardinals' point defeating Mary Ann Rompf 6-4, 7-5.
