Cardinals Travel to Syracuse for Friday Night Match

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville men's soccer team looks to get back into the win column on the road Friday as it travels to take on Syracuse. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. and will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.

LAST TIME OUT
The Cardinals dropped a heartbreaker at No. 5 Virginia on Friday, losing 2-1 in double overtime in Charlottesville. Virginia struck first with a goal 52 minutes into the match. Louisville then got a late equalizer with Pedro Fonseca leveling the match at one with less than 50 seconds remaining in regulation. However, the Cavaliers converted a penalty kick in the 109th minute to secure the victory.

The series between Louisville and Syracuse dates back to 2005 when both were members of the Big East Conference. The Cardinals hold a 9-2-4 advantage in the all-time series and are unbeaten in the last 11 meetings (7-0-4). Five of the last nine matches between the two have required at least one overtime period.

One year ago, Louisville and Syracuse played to a scoreless draw at SU Soccer Stadium. The Orange outshot the Cardinals 14-6 on the night, but Jake Gelnovatch made a career-best seven saves to keep the shutout intact.
