Cardinals Play Host to No. 10 Virginia, Austin Peay Saturday

Louisville opens ACC play Saturday at 12 p.m. against Virginia followed by a 4:30 p.m. contest against Austin Peay
Louisville, Ky. – After sweeping both matches last weekend to start the 2020 season, the University of Louisville men's tennis team will look to keep its momentum as they start ACC play against No. 10 Virginia followed by Austin Peay at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

The Cardinals (2-0, 1-7 ACC) will face off against the Cavaliers at 12:00 p.m., followed by a matchup with the Governors at 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.

About Louisville Men's Tennis
• In his inaugural season as Louisville's head coach, Rodrigo da Silva picked up his first win after guiding the Cardinals with a 7-0 sweep against Dayton. Louisville followed the victory with a 7-0 win over Bellarmine to move to 2-0 on the season.
• Louisville is led in singles by junior Tin Chen who carries a 17-3 overall record and is 2-0 at No. 1 in dual matches. Sophomore Sergio Hernandez follows with an 11-3 mark in singles and is 2-0 at No. 2
• Hernandez and fellow sophomore Fabien Salle carry a team-best 11-2 doubles record.
• Chen stands at No. 42 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) singles rankings. In the fall, he became the first player in program history to capture the ITA/Ohio Valley Regional singles title.

Scouting the Cavaliers: Virginia (2-0, 0-0 ACC) opened the 2020 season on Wednesday with a pair of 7-0 wins against Furman and Washington and Lee. The Cavaliers are led by senior Carl Soderlund, who was named pre-season No. 1 and a 2019 All-American for singles. For doubles Ryan Goetz and Ammar Alhaqbani are currently No. 34 as well as Gianni Ross and William Woodall who are ranked 53.

Last Meeting: Feb. 17, 2019 – The Cardinals won 7-0 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
Scouting the Governors: Austin Peay (0-0) opens its season against Louisville after posting 6-15 record in dual match play in 2019. The Governors are led by head coach Ross Brown. Austin Peay returns two from last year's team.

The Cardinals will hit the road for the first time this spring when they head to Waco, Texas for the ITA Kick-Off Weekend to face New Mexico in the first round. Baylor and Gonzaga will face off in the other first round match.
