LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville women's lacrosse's Tessa Chad has been named 2019 IWLCA Division I All Region Second Team, the IWLCA announced today. She was also named Second Team All-ACC.
It marks the 10th consecutive season that Louisville has had at least one player named All Region.Â
"Tessa is one of the most dominant shooters and may have one of the hardest shots in all of Division I," said head coach Scott Teeter. "Despite constant attention from opposing defenses, she proved that she can score goals as well as anyone in the country. But it's more than that, it's her leadership that she's brought to this young team that has really impressed me. She has been the heart and soul of our program the last two years."
Chad ranked first on the team, eighth in the ACC and 28th in the nation with 56 goals. Her 56 goals rank 10th all-time in a single season in UofL history.
She averaged 3.11 goals per game, which ranked seventh in the ACC and 35th in the nation. Her 25 free position goals led the ACC and rank second all-time in UofL single season history, while her 1.39 free position goals per game led the ACC and ranked eighth in the nation.
She finished the 2019 campaign with 10 hat tricks, which led the team.
Chad scored nine goals and tallied two assists, setting a program record for points and tying her own record for goals in a single game, to lift the Cards past Ohio State 19-7 on April 9. With 11 points vs. the Buckeyes, she eclipsed 200 points (214) for her four-year career and surpassed 100 (112) in her two years at UofL.
She finished her career with 98 goals in two seasons at UofL, which ranks 10th all-time in program history. Her 2.80 goals per game for her career is tied for second all-time in program history, while her 3.20 points per game for her career ranks fourth all-time in program history. Her 41 career free position goals rank fifth all-time in program history and her 202 career shots and 159 career shots on goal rank 10th all-time in program history.
The IWLCA has honored 128 student-athletes in Division I with a selection to one of the All-Region teams for 2019. These student-athletes are now eligible to be named to a national IWLCA All-American team. The IWLCA will celebrate the 2019 All-Americans during Divisional All-American Specials, which will be aired on Lax Sports Network in mid-June.Â
