Eight Cardinals Earn All-ACC Academic Team Honors

Forrest, Gibbons, Leon, Wanner, Wasike, Buckley Jegede, and Kessler were named to the All-ACC Academic Team
LOUISVILLE, Ky. --Â The University of Louisville track and field team placed eight athletes on the 2019 Indoor Track and Field All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the conference office on Thursday.
On the women's side, Makenli Forrest, Alexis Gibbons, Gabriela Leon, Addie Wanner and Dorcas Wasike made the women's team.  Christian Buckley Marcus Jegede, and Mitchell Kessler were named to the men's team.Â

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
Every member of the 2018-19 All-ACC Indoor Track and Field Academic Teams also earned All-America and/or All-ACC honors during the most recent season. Forrest was the NCAA Runner-Up in the weight throw, earning first team All-American honors. Wasike was the ACC Champion in the 3,000m and earned second team All-American honors in the 5,000m.Â

Leon and Wasike earned first team All-ACC honors. Buckley, Forrest, Gibbons Jegede, Kessler, Leon and Wanner all earned second team All-ACC honors.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes each conference student-athlete with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
