Cards Fall to Georgia Tech 4-1

Freshman Fabien Salle registered a point at No. 3 singles
The University of Louisville men's tennis team fell 4-1 to No. 49 Georgia Tech in an ACC road match Sunday afternoon at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.

"It was very competitive in singles," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "It was 5-6 at No. 1, won the first set at No. 2 and No. 3, was 4-5 at No. 4, won the first set at No. 5 singles and at No. 6 we were up 5-3 with two set points. Then it got away from us. Fabien won and Fede was at 7-6 4-4. Brandon was up 6-3 4-2, but they never went away and eventually overtook us."

The Cardinals (15-10, 3-7 ACC) will close out the regular season next weekend when they play host to No. 43 Virginia Tech on Friday at 2:30 p.m. and No. 11 North Carolina on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

Georgia Tech (10-9, 5-5) took the doubles point to start the match with a pair of 6-1 wins on courts 1 and 3.

Louisville answered quickly in singles when freshman Fabien Salle registered a 6-2, 6-2 victory against Phillip Gresk at the No. 3 spot to even the score at 1-1. Georgia Tech regained the lead on court 1 where No. 62 Carlos Divar bested No. 115 Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff 7-5, 6-3. The Yellow Jackets added another point on court four with Pablo Schelcher's 6-4, 6-3 win over Sergio Hernandez. The match was decided at the No. 6 spot where Brandon Freestone beat Clement Filho 7-5, 6-3.
