
No. 5 Louisville Hosts Michigan in NCAA Second Round

The 1-seed Cardinals are seeking their third consecutive trip to the Sweet 16.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville women's basketball (30-3, 14-2) hosts Michigan (22-11, 11-7) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday at 12 p.m. ET.
The Cardinals are seeking their third consecutive trip to the Sweet 16 and seventh in the last nine years.
Louisville is making its 22nd NCAA Tournament appearance and 11th in 12 seasons under head coach Jeff Walz. The Cardinals are marking their ninth straight NCAA Tournament and 14th in the last 15 years. Louisville is 32-21 all-time. They were 4-11 in their first 11 appearances and are 28-10 in their 10 appearances with Walz. They have moved on to the Sweet 16 eight times and advanced to the NCAA Final Four three times (2009, 2013, 2018). With three Final Fours in the last 10 years, UofL ranks fourth in the country behind UConn (10), Stanford (6) and Notre Dame (5).

Sam Fuehring led the way for Louisville in their 69-34 win over Robert Morris with 19 points and 11 rebounds. It marked her seventh double-double of the season and the 11th in her career. She also finished a perfect 9-9 from the floor.

It also marked UofL's first double-double in the NCAA Tournament since Fuehring had 14 points and 11 rebounds and Kylee Shook had 14 points and 10 rebounds vs. Boise State in the NCAA opener last season.

Louisville allowed just four points in the first quarter vs. Robert Morris, which marked the fewest points in a quarter ever allowed by the Cardinals in an NCAA Tournament game.

UofL led 5-4 against Robert Morris with 8:20 to go in the first quarter. The Cardinals then went on a 27-0 run to lead 32-4 with less than four minutes to go in the half. Overall, the Colonials went 14:43 without a point.

ABOUT THE WOLVERINES
Michigan is making their second consecutive tournament appearance after finishing fourth in the Big Ten. The Wolverines have 10 victories in their last 12 outings, including an 84-54 win over Kansas State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
While in the Big Ten semifinals, the Wolverines led late in a 73-72 loss against No. 3 seed Maryland. Michigan tallied five victories against tournament teams, including Iowa, Missouri and Rutgers.
Seventh-year head coach Kim Barnes Arico's team is led by First Team All-Big Ten freshman forward Naz Hillman, who averages 13.4 points per game and placed second in the league in field goal percentage (.633). Hillmon was also named the conference's Sixth Player of the Year. First Team All-Big Ten senior center Hallie Thome (12.0 points per game) and Third Team guard Nicole Munger (10.3 points per game) also average double-figures in scoring.
The Wolverines rank fifth in the league in scoring, averaging 72.3 points per game, while allowing 63.4 points per game from their opponents. The team ranks third in field goal percentage (.452) and in team rebounds per game (39.7).
