Wasike Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors; Men's and Women's Teams Honored

Both Louisville cross country teams receive All-Academic recognition
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After being named ACC Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year last month, University of Louisville junior Dorcas Wasike has been named to the 2018 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. Additionally, both the men's and women's teams received All-Academic honors from the organization.
Wasike adds Thursday's honor to her other accolades from the 2018 season, having previously been named the ACC Women's Runner of the Year by the league's head coaches in December. The junior from Kitale, Kenya earned All-America honors for the second-consecutive season by placing 14th at the NCAA Championships with a 6K time of 20:08.2. Earlier in the season, she took first place at both the ACC Championships and NCAA Southeast Regionals, finishing the year with five individual victories. Wasike became the first Louisville female athlete to earn an ACC individual cross country championship and USTFCCCA Regional Athlete of the Year honors.
Wasike, who is majoring in nursing, has been named to the UofL Dean's List and Athletic Director's Honor Roll for each of the last two semesters. She was also named a Red and Black Scholar, reserved for UofL student-athletes who achieve a GPA of 3.25 or higher.
In terms of team recognition, the women's cross country team earned All-Academic recognition with a team GPA of 3.66, while the men's squad also earned the designation with a team GPA of 3.02.
