
No. 6 Louisville Wraps Non-Conference Play at UT Martin

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 6 Louisville women's basketball (10-1) concludes non-conference play with a road tilt at UT Martin (4-5) on Thursday at 7 p.m. ET.

Dana Evans was named College Sports Madness ACC Player of the Week after scoring 18 points and tying a career-high with 10 assists in the win at UK. It marked her second career double-double and both have come in Lexington. She had 11 points and 10 assists at UK on Dec. 17, 2017.

Evans, who has scored in double figures every game this season, ranks second in the ACC with 19.0 points per game and leads the league and ranks 17th in the country with 31 made 3-pointers. She is shooting 49 percent from beyond the arc, which ranks second in the league and 31st in the country.

Evans (18 points, 10 assists) and Kylee Shook (11 points, 13 rebounds) both had double-doubles in the 67-66 win over Kentucky. It marked the first time that UofL has had two double-doubles in the same game since Sam Fuehring (10 points, 12 rebounds) and Jazmine Jones (13 points, 12 rebounds) did so in the 78-69 win over UConn on Jan. 31, 2019.

Shook tied her season-high with five blocks against Kentucky and moved one block away from tying Angel McCoughtry for the all-time program lead with 162 career blocks.

Louisville limited Kentucky to just 17 rebounds in the win, which marked the fewest rebounds allowed in the Walz era. The previous low in the Walz era was 18 at Pitt on Feb. 11, 2016 (W, 84-61).

Prior to the one-point win over Kentucky, UofL's smallest margin of victory this season was nine points against UT Arlington (W, 76-67). It marks Louisville's first one-point victory since they won 59-58 against No. 17 NC State on March 3, 2017 in the ACC Tournament quarterfinals.

The win over Kentucky marked the second time this season that UofL has overcome a double-digit deficit to record a win. They trailed by 11 (24-13) at the end of the first quarter against No. 1 Oregon prior to winning 72-62. Against UK, they trailed by 10 (55-45) with three minutes to go in the third quarter prior to going on 13-0 run and winning 67-66.

UofL is 10-1 in non-conference play this season and they had a 21-game non-conference winning streak prior to the loss at Ohio State. They are 37-2 in non-conference play over the last three seasons.

Walz has compiled an impressive 157-34 record (.822) against non-conference foes.

UT Martin enters Thursday's contest with a 4-5 record. They have won their last two games and four of their last six after starting the season at 0-3. They are 4-0 at the Elam Center and 0-5 on the road.

The Last Meeting (Dec. 4, 2018) - Asia Durr scored 25 points to lead Louisville to a 102-62 victory over UT Martin at the KFC YUM! Center. Louisville led 7-6 three minutes into the game and then went on an 11-0 run and never looked back. They finished the first quarter with a 31-14 lead after shooting 52 percent in the opening stanza. The Cardinals closed out the second half on a 22-2 run and held UT Martin without a field goal during that stretch. UT Martin scored the first bucket of the second half to trim the lead to 33, but would not get closer the rest of the way as the Cardinals cruised to a 102-62 win.
