Louisville Athletics and Kroger to Host Food Drive on Saturday

Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the football game on Saturday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Â University of Louisville Football fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the final home game Saturday versus Syracuse. Collection bins placed outside of all entry gates. Additionally, volunteers from Wayside Christian Mission and Louisville Athletics CardsCare student-athletes will be collecting contributions in all of the parking lots from fan tailgates. All food collected will benefit Wayside Christian Mission and the Cardinal Cupboard, the university's campus food pantry for students.

Our Zero Hunger | Zero Waste social impact plan is our commitment to end hunger in our communities and eliminate waste across our company by 2025. We are so incredibly thankful for our partnership with the University of Louisville, and their willingness to join us to end hunger in our community," said Erin Grant, Kroger spokeswoman.
Cardinal Cupboard opened January 30, 2019. Located in the Swain Student Activities Center, the Cupboard serves an average of 300 unique visitors per month. The Cardinal Cupboard is open to all current students and employees. Wayside Christian Mission continues to serve as one of the largest safety nets.
The Cardinals close the home schedule Saturday with a 4 p.m. kickoff against Syracuse.
