Â
The Cardinals have opened the season with a pair of victories over in-state foes – a 75-56 win over Western Kentucky and a 76-40 win over Murray State.
Â
With the wins over WKU and MSU, Louisville has won 97 straight games over unranked teams.
Â
Last Friday night, they limited the Racers to 25 percent shooting on the game and forced 24 turnovers.
Â
After scoring just two points in the opener, Kylee Shook finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds against Murray State for the seventh double-double of her career.
Â
Jazmine Jones finished with a team-high 14 points on perfect 6-6 shooting, while tying a career-high with five steals.
ABOUT THE CHIPPEWAS
Central Michigan opened the season with a wild 111-105 double overtime home loss to Green Bay on Nov. 6, in what was head coach Heather Oesterle's debut. The Chippewas made just two of their eight free throw attempts in the first overtime and still it took a basket at the buzzer by Green Bay to force a second overtime. Junior forward Kyra Bussell, making her first career start, scored a career-high 29 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead five Chippewas in double figures. Micaela Kelly added 20 points, Maddy Watters had 17, Molly Davis had 15, and Jahari Smith added 12 for CMU. Davis, a freshman point guard making her collegiate debut, also had 10 assists and four steals while playing 49 of a possible 50 minutes. The Chippewas, the three-time defending MAC regular-season champions, were picked to finish first in the West Division. Kelly was named to the Preseason All-MAC West Division Team and was CMU's third-leading scorer a year ago when she earned Third Team All-MAC accolades.
Series History - Louisville is 3-1 all-time against Central Michigan and 1-0 at home. This will be the first ever matchup between the teams at the KFC Yum! Center. Last season's game in Mount Pleasant marked the first matchup between the two teams since Louisville lost 84-75 at CMU on Dec. 2, 2009.
Â
The Last Meeting - UofL overcame a late surge by the Chippewas and posted a 72-68 win at Central Michigan on Dec. 20, 2018. Asia Durr scored 26 of her 31 points in the second half to help secure the win, while Sam Fuehring added 14 points.
