Jordan Nwora led all scorers with 28 points
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A late surge from the University of Louisville men's basketball team gave them a 75-65 victory over Bellarmine in the lone exhibition game of the 2019-20 season Tuesday night at the KFC Yum! Center.

Jordan Nwora posted a game-high 28 points for the Cardinals as Dwayne Sutton registered 18 points and 13 rebounds. Alex Cook led the Knights with 20 points and nine rebounds.

A layup from Dylan Penn gave the Knights their largest lead of the first half at the 11:45 mark, but Louisville quickly regained control after a layup off a fast break and a three-pointer from Nwora.

From there, it was back-and-forth between the Cardinals and the Knights. Nwora and Sutton combined for 22 of the Cardinals' 33 points during the opening 20 minutes as Bellarmine held a two-point lead heading into the half.

Louisville went on a 5-0 run quickly into the second half, but it continued being a tight game. A layup from Samuell Williamson with 10:09 to go put the Cardinals six points ahead. The Knights quickly responded after a jumper by Ben Weyer to put Bellarmine within two with 3:32 left on the clock.

Nwora's layup and a successful free throw prompted a late surge with 1:55 to go as the Cardinals rallied for nine unanswered points. Williamson's dunk on a fast break gave the Cardinals an 11-point lead over the Knights, their largest of the game.

Louisville concluded the game shooting 42 percent from the field and 29 percent from the three-point line. Bellarmine finished shooting 45 percent from the field and 29 percent from behind the arc.

The Cardinals will open the season on Tuesday, Nov. 5 as they take on ACC rival Miami at the Watsco Center. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m.
