Men's Basketball Holds Annual Media Day
October 25, 2019 | Men's Basketball
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville men's basketball team held its annual media day at the Kueber Center on Friday afternoon. Head coach Chris Mack met with the local and national media first while breakout interviews with the players followed.Â
Â
Louisville enters the 2019-20 season ranked No. 5 in the Associated Press men's basketball preseason poll released on Monday. It is the highest the Cardinals have been ranked in the preseason since 2013 when UofL opened the year ranked third in the Associated Press and USA Today polls.  It is the fifth time in the last 10 years that UofL has been ranked among the top 10 preseason.
Â
Junior Jordan Nwora was selected to the five-person preseason Associated Press All-America team. Â Nwora, the 2019 Preseason ACC Player of the Year, has received considerable acclaim as the season approaches. Â He has been named a first-team preseason All-American by CBS Sports, NBC Sports, Athlons, the Blue Ribbon Basketball Yearbook and was a second-team selection by Street & Smith's Basketball Yearbook. Â He was noted as the top small forward in the nation by NCAA.com's Andy Katz and is among 20 watch list members for the 2020 Julius Erving Award, presented annually to the nation's top small forward.
Last season, Louisville achieved a 20-14 record and participated in its 39th NCAA Tournament. Â Picked in the preseason to finish 11th in the ACC, UofL attained a 10-8 conference record and earned a tie for sixth in the final regular season standings. Â The Cardinals return six of their top seven scorers from last year and a top 10 recruiting class. Â
Â
UofL will face Bellarmine in an exhibition game on Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. in the KFC Yum! Center. Â Louisville opens its season on Nov. 5 at ACC foe Miami, the earliest opening game ever for the Cardinals and the first time since 1981 they have played a conference opponent to open the season.
Season tickets for the Cardinals' 19 home games in the KFC Yum! Center are available now.  This year, seats throughout much of the arena have been reduced in price. Season tickets guarantee the best seating locations, allow access to the biggest match ups prior to the general public, and provide savings on a per game basis.  Season ticket packages are available online at GoCards.com/MBBtickets.  Additional information is available by calling the UofL ticket office at 502-852-5151, emailing tickets@gocards.com, or by visiting the UofL Ticket Office, located near Gate 2 of Cardinal Stadium at 2800 South Floyd Street.
