Cardinals Compete at ITA Ohio Valley Regional

The University of Louisville women's tennis team completed their second day of competition at the ITA Ohio Valley Regional at Adams Tennis Complex on the campus of Middle Tennessee University. Â

The Intercollegiate Tennis Association hosts tennis tournaments in twelve different regions around the country. These tournaments feature top women's collegiate players from across the country.
In the main draw of doubles the pair of Maia Haumuller and Rhea Verma had a first round bye before beating Purdue's Alex Sabe and Zala Dovnik 8-4 before falling to Emma Kurtz and Anna Ross, the No. 1 seeded pair from Vanderbilt 8-4.

Raven Neely and Diana Wong fell to Ena Babic and Csila Fodor of Purdue 8-4. Vujanic and Chaika outlasted Lieto-Fitz/Randolf 8-7 (7) Â but fell to Akvile Parazinskaite/Lesedi Jacobs of Kentucky.

In the main draw of singles, Raven Neeley advanced on a bye and then beat Purdue's Zala Dovnik 6-3, 6-1 and advanced to beat Alisha Reayer of Memphis State 7-5, 5-7, 6-1.

Jelena Vujanic had a bye for the first round and then beat Laura Rico of Miami of Ohio 6-4, 6-4 before beating Zana Barnard of Middle Tennessee 1-6, 6-2, 6-3

Diana Wong beat Lipscomb's Liza Diachenko's 6-2, 6-1 before falling to East Tennessee State's Andrea Larrinaga 6-4, 6-3.

Rhea Verma had a bye in the first round and then beat Carolina Morton of Cincinnati 6-3, 6-4 before downing Ariadna Riley of Tennessee 3-6, 6-1, 2-1 (ret. Inj.)

Nikolina Jovic had a bye in the first round before beating Xiawei Hu of Indiana 7-6 (4), 6-3. She advanced to beat Aran Teixido-Garcia of Memphis, beating her 6-0, 6-4.
Tournament play consists of two flights in both singles and doubles competition. For singles, Division I consists of 128 singles players from various schools and Flight B includes 64 players. In doubles play, Division I is comprised of 64 teams, while Flight B is made up of 32 teams. Some of the Division I teams competing this weekend include Austin Peay, Ball State, Belmont, UT-Chattanooga, Indiana, Miami (OH), Purdue, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Memphis, Louisville and Tennessee.
