Rowing walks away victorious for the first time in Talent Show History
On Tuesday, January 22, the University of Louisville Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted the ninth annual student-athlete talent show at the School of Music's Comstock Hall. The 11 performances showcased a wide variety of talents in front of record crowd filled with students, staff and coaches.
Â
While the event featured talent, laughs and cheers, the SAAC also used this time to encourage everyone to donate to the winter drive for the Salvation Army.
Â
Talent Show hosts Jazmine Jones (Women's Basketball), and Dae Williams (Football), utilized their high energy to get the crowd ready for the night by showing off their own talents. The night was highlighted by the teams displaying their rhythm and dance moves and instrumental renditions of today's hits. Doing an original song about the lives of their fellow student athletes, the audience was overcome with laughter for the Rowing team, as they earned their first-place title win in talent show history. Solo acts from Ryan Johnston (Men's Track & Field) and Kirsten Parker (Lacrosse) captivated the audience and led them to place second and third overall respectively.
Â
The hosts loved the quality of entertainment from the night's events. As a first-time host, Williams was excited to engage the audience. "Being able to host the talent show was an amazing experience and the energy that everyone brought to the show was incredible. Seeing everyone together for one night and getting away from the stress was really nice. We have some talented athletes."
Â
Jones, also a first-time host, stated that she "was nervous in the beginning but overcame it with the hype of the crowd. Such a fun time and memory [I] will always have."
Â
The SAAC is always working to find more ways to incorporate all teams during events that will help the community and strengthen school pride at the University of Louisville.
