Cardinal Women Ranked No. 19 in the USTFCCCA Rankings

Louisville jumps to 19th in the polls after a win at the Notre Dame Invitational
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Louisville women's track and field team was ranked 19th in the second week edition of the USTFCCCA Indoor Team Rankings, the organization announced. It is the first Top 25 ranking for the women's team this season. The Cardinals were previous ranked No. 25 last season on Feb. 28, 2018.
This weekend the Cardinals won the Notre Dame Invitational with 145.5 points. Six athletes won events to lead the women's team to the win in the second week of competition.Â
Louisville has six athletes ranked in the Top 30 nationally. Makenli Forrest is has the highest ranking at fourth in the weight throw and Dorcas Wasike is ranked fifth in the 5,000 meters. Gabriela Leon rounds out the athletes ranked in the Top 10 at No. 6 in the pole vault.Â
Morgan Zacharias is ranked 17th in the pole vault while Renate von Tonder has the 26th best mark in the long jump. Alexis Gibbons is ranked 30th in the long jump. Â
The rankings are tabulated using data from only this season, including combined events. Prior to this week, previous season data had been used when it came to combined events only. It should also be mentioned that next week's rankings will change as only declared and accepted entries to NCAAs will be scored.
