
Louisville Opens ACC Play Against North Carolina on Thursday

The Cardinals and Tar Heels will tip off at 7 p.m. ET.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After concluding 2018 with a perfect 12-0 record, No. 3 University of Louisville women's basketball opens ACC play on Thursday night when they host North Carolina (9-5).
The Cardinals return to action for the first time since Dec. 20 when they won 72-68 at Central Michigan.
In the win over the Chippewas, senior Asia Durr scored 26 of her 31 points in the second half to lead the Cardinals to victory. She shot 10-18 from the floor, 1-7 from 3-point range and 10-11 from the stripe, and in the process became the fourth player in program history to eclipse 2,000 points. She is joined by Angel McCoughtry, Shoni Schimmel and Myisha Hines-Allen.
She is averaging 22.5 points per game, which ranks second in the ACC and 10th in the country. She is connecting on 2.8 3-point field goals per game, which ranks third in the ACC and 53rd in the country. She is 48-55 (.873) from the free throw line, which ranks fifth in ACC.
With 33 points at Western Kentucky, 24 at Chattanooga, 20 at Boise State, 20 vs. Hartford, 25 vs. Nebraska, 25 vs. UT Martin, 32 vs. UK and 31 at CMU, Durr now has 11 career 30-point games and 45 career 20-point games. She has scored in double figures in all 12 games this season.
She ranks fourth in the ACC with a 2.3 assist-to-TO ratio. She dropped a career-high and team-high eight assists, five of which came in the fourth quarter, earlier this season against Nebraska. She has led the team in assists three times this season and 16 times in her career. She ranks second on the team with 3.5 assists.
UofL committed just seven turnovers at CMU, a game after committing a season-low five turnovers vs. NKU. That marked the fewest turnovers since they set the school--record and tied the NCAA Tournament record with three vs. Oregon State in the NCAA regional final last March.
They had seven turnovers vs. UK and have just 19 in the last three games. Prior to the last three games, they had double-digit turnovers in every game. Their turnovers per game have dropped from 16.2 to 13.7 after the last three games.

North Carolina enters conference play with a 9-5 record after winning its last game against Howard at home on Dec. 28 (W, 85-63). They are 1-2 in true road games, falling at Colorado (L, 86-74) and at Ohio State (L, 76-69), and winning at Elon (W, 100-69). They fell to Kentucky (L, 85-75) in the Virgin Islands on Nov. 24.
They are knocking down 8.6 3-pointers per game, which ranks third in the ACC, while shooting 34 percent from deep. They are allowing 67.3 points per game, which ranks last in the ACC.
Sophomore Janelle Bailey, the 2017-18 ACC Rookie of the Year, leads the Tar Heels in scoring (17.2) and rebounding (9.4), while shooting 50 percent from the floor. She had 30 points and 14 rebounds in the win over Howard. Overall, they have four players averaging double figures with Stephanie Watts (15.8), Paris Kea (13.6), and Shayla Bennett (12.2). Kea, a redshirt senior, was named First Team All-ACC a year ago.
Series History - UofL is 5-3 all-time against UNC and has won five straight against the Tar Heels and all five wins have come since the Cardinals joined the ACC.
