After a pair of split practices, the Cardinals worked out as a full team on Sunday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville football team came together as a full unit for the first time on Sunday with a 26-period practice at the Howard Schnellenberger Football Complex.
After a pair of split practices, head coach Bobby Petrino decided to bring the team together on Sunday morning. Hot, humid tempertures greeted the team again for the third-straight day, but as Petrino stated earlier, the team is in great shape and has handled the difficult conditions pretty well during the first three practices.
Putting on shoulder pads for the first time, the Cardinals conducted more team work during the course of practice. The first units paired up against each other extensively, and the Cardinals moved the football down the field during the team periods.
The Cardinals return to the practice field on Monday afternoon with a 3:30 p.m. practice.
NOTES
QB Jawon Pass was showing off accuracy and arm strength on deep sideline routes, while true freshman Jordan Travis has a smooth delivery and has a strong, accurate arm ... With Jaylen Smith sidelined, depth at wide receiver is evident with the talent of Seth Dawkins and Dez Fitpatrick as the focal point. However, TuTu Atwell has shown great speed and good hands as he develops with the veterans, while Javian Hawkins and Marcus Riley have also been impressive ... CB Cornelius Strughill earned numerous first-team reps on Sunday with P.J. Mbanasor as the other cornerback ... Head coach Bobby Petrino talked about the athleticism in the secondary and it's been evident in the first three practices. Along with Sturghill and Mbanasor, Anthony Johnson, Kaheem Roach, Rodjay Burns, Russ Yeast, and Khane Pass, the Cardinals are developing depth in the secondary ... The offensive line has featured Mekhi Becton and Linwood Foy at tackles, with Kenny Thomas and Lukayus McNeil at the guards. Cole Bentley worked as the first-team center ... Kicker Blanton Creque showed a strong leg and accuracy to close practice. The Cardinals will be in full pads on Tuesday.
