The University Of Louisville Office Of Athletics Compliance provides rules education of NCAA, ACC and University regulations to promote a culture of compliance within both the Athletic Department and the University. The purpose of this video is to provide rules education for student-athletes, coaches, staff, and outside constituents.
This video overviews the NCAA eligibility rules. Academic eligibility rules include completion of high school in eight semesters or four academic years, completion of sixteen core courses, and a minimum core course grade point average with corresponding ACT or SAT test scores. The amateurism rules include answering questions honestly during NCAA Eligibility Center registration process to certify amateurism.
Along with academic and amateurism eligibility rules, the NCAA enforces a banned substance list applicable to all NCAA student-athletes. Student-athletes are subject to random drug testing from both the NCAA and University of Louisville. Additionally, student-athletes are not allowed to make any kind of agreement with an agent during their eligibility. This includes not accepting any extra benefits from agents until after their eligibility has expired. Finally, student-athletes, coaches, and staff are not allowed to gamble on any NCAA-sponsored sport.
