
Track and Field's Delgado, Manning Named Google Cloud Academic All-Americans

Two Cardinals earn Academic All-American honors
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville's Joe Delgado and Kassidy Manning were named to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I Cross Country/Track & Field Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Both Delgado and Manning were third team selections.
To be nominated for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00 and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution.
Delgado, a graduate student from Ontario, Ore., carries a 3.67 G.P.A. while pursuing his master's in urban planning. He holds the school record in the decathlon and earned first team All-America honors after finishing fourth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Delgado is a Red & Black Scholar and a member of the AD Honor Roll. He is also a member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the national college athlete honor society.
Manning, a junior from Floyds Knobs, Ind., carries a 4.0 G.P.A. while majoring in accounting. She recently made her first NCAA East Preliminary appearance in the 10,000 meters where she finished in the top 25. She also earned All-ACC honors in cross country. Manning is a Dean's Scholar and a Red & Black Scholar. She was also on the AD Honor Roll.
Among the 46 student-athletes on the Division I Academic All-America® Men's Cross Country/Track & Field teams, 23 men carry a GPA of 4.0 or better. There are 28 members of the 47 honored on this year's Division I Academic All-America® Women's Cross Country/Track & Field teams with a GPA of 4.0 or better. The 17 student-athletes on the men's first team carry an average G.P.A. of 3.975, while the 17 members of the women's first team carry an average GPA of 3.978.
