Women's Tennis Falls to No. 18 Florida State

Cards celebrate Senior Day
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – In their final match of the regular season, the University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 4-0 to No. 18 Florida State on Sunday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. With the loss, the Cardinals move to 13-12 overall and 3-11 in ACC action.

Prior to the start of the match, Mariana Humberg, Abbie Pahz, Ariana Rodriguez, and Jessie Paul were honored for Senior Day.

The Noles gained the early 1-0 advantage in doubles as the No. 73 team of Carla Touly and Ariana Rahmanparast defeated No. 45 Pahz and Humberg 6-4 at No. 1, followed by Julia Mukulsi and Andrea Garcia's 6-3 victory over Sena Suswam and Maya Smith at No. 2. On court three, the duo of Rodriguez and Aleksandra Mally battled back from a 4-1 deficit to take a 5-4 lead over Gabriella Castaneda and Petra Hule before the match was abandoned.

In singles, Florida State jumped out to a 2-0 lead with No. 92 Hule's 7-5, 6-4 victory over Humberg at No. 2. Minutes later, No. 18 Touly topped Mally 7-5, 6-2 at the one spot to extend the Noles' advantage to three points. On court five, Rahmanparast clinched the 4-0 victory for the Noles, notching a 7-5, 6-1 win over Maya Smith.Â

In other singles action, Pahz lost 7-6 (7-3) in the first set and was knotted 5-5 with Castenada at No. 3. Tiffany Huber won her first set 6-4, but dropped the second 6-4 and was down 1-0 in the third to Nandini Das on court four. At the six-spot, Suswam downed Garcia 6-3 in the first set, but fell behind 6-2 in the second and was down 3-1 in the third when play was halted.Â

Up next, the Cards travel to Cary N.C. for the ACC Championships, which will be held from April 25-29.
