
Carter, Fuehring, Jones Named to ACC All-Academic Team

All three players earned a 3.0 grade-point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during their academic career.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today that University of Louisville women's basketball's Arica Carter, Sam Fuehring and Jazmine Jones were named to the All-ACC Women's Basketball Academic Team.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned a 3.0 grade-point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
Carter graduated in the fall with a degree in exercise science and is now pursuing a psychology degree. She had a 3.85 grade point average last semester and a career 3.355 GPA. She was named Dean's List and AD Honor Roll in the fall of 2017, a 2017-18 Red & Black Scholar Athlete and a 2018 Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar nominee.
The junior from Los Angeles, Calif., is shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc and has 38 3-point field goals on the season after entering the year with just 16 for her career. She ranks second on the team with 29.8 minutes per game and has started 30 of 31 games. She ranks 10th in the ACC with 3.8 assists per game and second with a 2.0 assist-to-turnover ratio.Â
Fuehring, who is majoring in sport administration and minoring in communications, had a 3.564 GPA last semester and 3.32 GPA for her career. She was named Dean's List and AD Honor Roll in the fall of 2017 and a 2017-18 Red & Black Scholar Athlete.
The junior from Wanaque, N.J., ranks third in the ACC with a 58.2 shooting percentage. She ranks third on the team with 9.1 points per game and second with 5.0 rebounds. She has taken a team-best 37 charges and 10 times has recorded multiple charges in a game, including six in the win over Ohio State.Â
Jones, who is studying criminal justice, had a 3.169 GPA last semester and has a 3.089 career GPA. She was named AD Honor Roll in the fall of 2017 and a 2017-18 Red & Black Scholar Athlete.
The sophomore from Tallahassee, Fla., has started all 31 games for the Cards, joining Myisha Hines-Allen as the only two players to do so. She ranks fourth on the team with 8.4 points per game and third with 4.4 rebounds. She had five steals at Virginia, which marked a career-high.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
