
Louisville Opens Home Schedule Versus Miami (Ohio)

The Cardinals and Redhawks will tip off at 7 p.m. ET on Monday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After opening the season with a 5-0 record away from home, University of Louisville women's basketball makes its 2018-19 debut at the KFC Yum! Center against Miami (Ohio) on Monday night at 7 p.m. ET.

Over the weekend, the Cardinals remained unbeaten with a 58-56 win over No. 19 Arizona State and an 86-69 win over Hartford in the South Point Shootout in Las Vegas, Nev.

In the win over Arizona State, Louisville utilized an 8-0 run to come from behind in the fourth quarter and Dana Evans found Sam Fuehring underneath for a layup with 2.5 seconds to seal the victory. They then used a 37-18 second quarter to pull away from Hartford.

Fuehring was named to the South Point Shootout All-Tournament team after averaging 18.5 points and seven rebounds. She had a team-high 18 points and nine rebounds, including the game-winner vs. Arizona State, and then had 19 points, which tied a career-high, and five rebounds vs. Hartford. She was also 8-8 from the line.

She is averaging 11.6 points, while shooting 20-35 (.571) from the floor, and a team-high 6.4 rebounds after five games. She had a team-high eight rebounds at Boise State, adding nine points.

The Cardinals started the season with their first five games away from home, which marked the most away games to start the season since 2007-08 when they also opened with five games away from the Derby City.

Head coach Jeff Walz is 9-2 in home openers at Louisville. The only losses a 75-71 defeat to California on Nov. 15, 2015 and a 63-50 loss to No. 4 Tennessee on Nov. 12, 2010 to open the KFC Yum! Center. Last season, they opened the season at home with an 80-40 win over Southeast Missouri.
Walz, along with associate head coach Stephanie Norman, will be recognized pregame after recording their 300th win at Louisville in the season opener at Western Kentucky.

In head coach Megan Duffy's first season at the helm, Miami (Ohio) went 22-11 overall, 12-6 in the MAC, and played in the WNIT, falling to Duquesne, 69-56, in the first round. They return four starters from a year ago and have opened the season with a 4-0 record. In their last contest, they downed High Point, 68-55, in Oxford. They are led by First Team All-MAC performer Lauren Dickerson. Last season, she averaged a team-high 19.6 ppg and 5.3 apg, while also posting 3.7 rpg. In four games this year, she is leading the team with 13.3 ppg, 6.5 apg and 2.8 spg, while pulling down 4.5 rpg, in 35.8 minutes.
